This interactive 3D solar system runs on phones and tablets too — but the fly mode and fine controls feel best on a desktop or laptop with a mouse and keyboard.
Our Solar System · Initialising the viewer
A live 3D orrery of the planets, the moons and the bodies between them.
Initialising
This solar system simulator runs in your browser. Every planet is placed where it is right now, worked out from JPL's orbital elements, and the Moon from the Meeus lunar theory, so the Moon's phase, the seasons and the line between day and night on Earth all match the real sky. Drag to turn the view, scroll or pinch to zoom, and click any world to fly to it. Switch to true scale to see how small the planets are against the distances between them, or open the time machine to jump to any date from 1800 to 2200, the next eclipse or the next full Moon. It is free, with nothing to install, and works on phones, tablets and computers.
