Birth star maps
The sky the moment they arrived.
The stars over the place your baby was born, at the minute on their birth record, with the Moon in its phase and the planets where they stood. A first portrait of where they arrived.
What the sky held that night.
Over Leeds at 21:40 on 21 January 2024, worked out by the same engine that draws the print.1
- The Moon, 86% litA waxing gibbous, high in the south.
- JupiterHalf way up in the south-west.
- 4,447 starsEvery star to magnitude 6.5 above the horizon, the brightest of them Sirius.
Getting the time right.
Use the time of birth as it was recorded for you, on the clock of the place your baby was born. The designer reads it in that place's own time zone, summer time included.
If you only know the hour, that is fine. The stars turn through the night, so the chart moves a little with the minutes, while the Moon's phase and the planets stay almost where they were.
For twins, make one design, then change the time for the second; or put both names in the third line.
Words for a birth star map.
A title and a line under it. Each opens the designer with the words in place, ready for your names.

Questions about birth star maps.
What if I do not know the exact time of birth?
Choose the nearest hour you are sure of. The stars turn a little through the night, so the chart shifts with the time, while the Moon's phase and the planets stay almost where they were.
Can I add the baby's name, weight and time?
Yes. Put their name in the title or the third line and the weight beside it. The print adds the place, the date and time and the coordinates under your words.
Which theme suits a nursery?
Cream paper is soft and light on a nursery wall, and midnight navy is cosy in a darker room. The designer draws your baby's sky in all three themes side by side.
How accurate is the star map?
We test it. For four reference moments our chart is checked against JPL's Horizons system and the US Naval Observatory: the planets land within 3 arcseconds, the Moon within 12 and the bright navigational stars within 1.5. On a 50 × 70 cm print the worst of them is less than 0.03 mm from where it belongs.1,2,3
What do I get when I buy the print file?
A PNG image of your design at 300 dots per inch, at the size you chose (5,906 × 8,268 pixels for 50 × 70 cm), ready for any printer. Straight after payment we make your file at full size, ready to download from your order page, and we email you a link to it that keeps working.
