Where it is today

The planet under the pad is the planet you orbit in the 3D viewer, at full size. Engines, drag and gravity are worked out every step, and trajectories switch between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun as each sphere of influence takes over.

Questions

Good to know.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Qmax runs in your browser inside the 3D viewer, on desktop Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox with WebGL 2.

What is free?

Building rockets in the VAB, launching from the Cape, flying to orbit and everything around the Earth: stations, docking, re-entry and recovery. The free game never asks you to pay.

What does the $4.99 unlock?

Leaving the Earth for the Moon and Mars, the lander and rover Experiences at Hadley Base and Jezero Crater, and the Spaceplane Hangar with the runway. It is a one-time purchase.

How is the unlock kept?

After checkout your browser stores a licence. The thanks page also shows it, so you can paste it into another browser or computer with "I already bought it".

Is the physics real?

The Earth is 6,371 km across and takes about 9.4 km/s to orbit, the Moon is where the ephemeris puts it today, and trajectories are patched conics across each sphere of influence, the way mission planners sketch them.

Does my career save?

Yes, in your browser. The Administration building can export a career to a file and import it again.

What if something goes wrong?
