Our Solar System

Ranked · Updated May 2026

Every Planet With Rings.

Saturn is famous for them, but it is not alone. All four giant planets in our solar system have ring systems — they are just much fainter beyond Saturn. Here is the full list.

  1. Saturn The brightest, widest ring system in the solar system, made mostly of pure water ice. Possibly only 100–400 million years old.
  2. Jupiter A faint dust ring discovered by Voyager 1 in 1979, fed by micrometeoroid impacts on the inner moons.
  3. Uranus 13 narrow, dark rings discovered in 1977 by Earth-based observation when they occulted a star.
  4. Neptune Five rings of varying brightness, with arc-shaped concentrations rather than uniform bands.
