Questions

How do I find what's in the sky tonight where I live?

Pick your town below, or press Use my location and we open the nearest one. Each page has sunset, when the sky is fully dark, which planets can be seen and where to look, the Moon, the ISS passes and the chance of the northern lights, for that town on its own clock. For anywhere else, the planetarium draws the sky over any place.

Are the times exact?

They are worked out for the centre of each town on a sea-level horizon, to the minute, with the US Naval Observatory's definitions of sunrise, sunset and twilight, and checked against its tables. Hills, buildings and haze on your own horizon make a low planet or the Moon appear a little later or set a little sooner.

Why is my town not listed?

The list holds the largest towns of the countries that read this site most, and a few places people travel to for the sky. Every town in the world is in the planetarium, which finds yours from its name or your location.
