Starlink right now
The globe at the top shows every Starlink satellite where it is right now, from the US Space Force tracking data CelesTrak publishes several times a day. Bright points are in sunlight; dim ones are passing through the Earth's shadow.

The shells, by tilt of their orbits
Go out after sunset or before sunrise
Satellites shine with reflected sunlight, so they show while your sky is dark and theirs is not: the first two hours after sunset and the last two before dawn.
Look for a new launch
For a few days after a Starlink launch the batch travels in a line of bright dots, one after another. It is the best chance to see them easily.
Expect a slow, steady point
Once in place they look like faint stars drifting steadily across the sky, with no blinking. Many are hard to see from a city.
Where is Starman?
On 6 February 2018 the first Falcon Heavy sent a cherry red Tesla Roadster, with a mannequin called Starman in the driver's seat, into its own orbit round the Sun. It is still out there, looping between the Earth's orbit and just beyond the orbit of Mars. These numbers are live.

Questions
When is the next SpaceX launch?
The countdown at the top of this page shows it live, with the rocket, the pad and the launch window in your own time zone, and the full schedule below it. SpaceX launches several times a week, most often a Falcon 9 from Cape Canaveral or Kennedy Space Center in Florida or from Vandenberg in California, and launch times slip often for weather or technical checks, so the times here refresh every few minutes.
How can I watch a SpaceX launch?
SpaceX streams most launches live on its website and on X, starting about 15 to 30 minutes before liftoff, and the Watch button above links to the stream once it is announced. In person, the Space Coast has public viewing spots such as Playalinda Beach, Jetty Park and the riverfront in Titusville, and evening launches from Vandenberg can be seen across southern California.
How many Starlink satellites are there?
About 11,100 were in orbit on 1 October 2026, counted from the US Space Force tracking data published by CelesTrak, and the live count on this page updates with each new set. That is more than half of every working satellite around the Earth. SpaceX adds new batches almost every week and retires older ones by letting them burn up in the atmosphere.
Can I see Starlink satellites from the ground?
Yes, on a clear night in the hour or two after sunset or before sunrise, when they are still lit by the Sun above your dark sky. In the first days after a launch they travel in a striking line, the "Starlink train", before raising their orbits and spreading out. Settled satellites are faint, steady points that are hard to pick out without knowing where to look.
Where is the Tesla Roadster now?
On 2 October 2026 it was about 91 million km from the Earth and 230 million km from the Sun, travelling round the Sun at about 79,406 km/h. Launched on the first Falcon Heavy on 6 February 2018 with a mannequin called Starman at the wheel, it loops between the Earth's orbit and just beyond the orbit of Mars once every 557 days. The numbers on this page are live, from JPL Horizons.
How often does SpaceX launch?
By 2 October SpaceX had made 116 launch attempts in 2026, more than any other launch company, which works out at several a week. Most are Falcon 9 flights carrying Starlink satellites, with rideshares, crew and cargo flights to the space station, and government missions in between.
What rockets does SpaceX fly?
Falcon 9, about 70 m tall, is the workhorse: its first stage lands on a droneship at sea or back at a landing zone near the pad and flies again, some boosters more than twenty times. Falcon Heavy straps three Falcon 9 cores together for the heaviest payloads. Starship, about 120 m tall with its Super Heavy booster, is the largest rocket ever flown and is built to be fully reusable.
How this works
Launch times, statuses and boosters come from Launch Library 2 by The Space Devs, refreshed every 20 minutes. Starlink positions are worked out in your browser with the SGP4 orbit model from CelesTrak's data. The Roadster's position comes from JPL Horizons once a day and is carried forward to the second. This page is not made by or affiliated with SpaceX.
